Thai Massage

Traditional Thai massage is administered to clients wearing loose, comfortable clothing on well cushioned floor mats; no oils or lotions are used. The recipient may be placed in a variety of positions during the course of the massage.

Deep and rhythmic pressures form the core of the massage. Working from the feet up or the head down, and using acupressure and trigger point techniques along on the body’s energy lines, the practitioner presses, stretches, flexes, and bends the recipient’s body to free up blockages, relieve tension and promote flexibility.

The practitioner uses thumbs, palms, forearms, elbows, knees and feet to create a dance of movement along with acupressure, gentle rocking and stretching on the recipient’s body. Nothing is hurried; there is no sudden changes in rhythm or speed. Every technique melts into the next like a gracefully choreographed performance.

During the massage joints are opened, muscles and tendons are stretched, internal organs are toned, and energy is balanced and restored. The overall effect is one of deep relaxation, rejuvenation, and physical and mental well being.

Thai massage is suitable for a wide range of clients of all ages, including the disabled and elderly, due to its gentle nature, adjustability, and non-invasive techniques. The practitioner will adapt the massage procedure and tailor it to suit each individual’s age and fitness level. For a full and complete Thai massage treatment, a 1.5 hour session or longer is recommended.
