Perfect for beginners, this program lays a solid foundation in traditional Thai massage techniques, ensuring you gain the skills and confidence to start your practice.

Prerequisites

This workshop is intended for anyone who is interested in learning the basics of Thai Massage. It is also suitable for beginners with no or little knowledge of Thai Massage.

Course Outline

Anatomy (45 hours)
This course provides a comprehensive overview of human anatomy, focusing on the musculoskeletal system and other key body systems. Students will explore the structure and function of bones, joints, and connective tissues, and muscles, including their origin and insertion points.

Physiology (45h)
Students will delve into the intricate workings of the human body, exploring all major physiological systems, to gain a thorough understanding of how these systems function to maintain overall health and homeostasis. Anatomical terminology and the interrelationships between body systems will be introduced.

Ethics and Professional Aspects (30 hours)
This course will prepare students for the realities of professional practice. Not only will it cover the professional code of ethics and the latest legislation relevant to the practice of massage therapy, it will also introduce the key business elements related to a massage practice, such as marketing strategies, tax and finances, lease agreements, hygiene and sanitation, scheduling, and more.

Sexuality and Professional Practice (30h)
This course teaches massage practitioners to recognize and respect professional boundaries and their responsibilities towards clients. It addresses the topic of sexuality with sensitivity and professionalism. Students will develop skills to handle situations involving sensual or sexual dynamics and will explore concepts of ethics and integrity in their practice.

Communication and Interview Techniques (30h)

Students will learn to apply communication and interpersonal skills within a massage context, ensuring they can provide empathetic and effective client care. This will prepare future practitioners to effectively manage both personal and professional interactions with clients, as well as learn interview techniques to conduct client assessment in a structured and unbiased manner. Case studies will be presented.

Massage Techniques (160h)
Students will learn the foundation of body stances and pressing techniques to safely provide Thai massages. Over 260+ techniques in supine, side-lying, prone, and prone positions will be taught to enable students to be able to give up to 6 hours of Thai massage.

    Thai Massage Level 1:

    The Level 1 course introduces the foundation of Thai massage, such as proper body mechanics and pressing techniques. It also teaches students theory along with practical application to be able to perform a comprehensive 90 to 120 minute Thai Massage using 80+ techniques in sitting, supine, and prone positions.

  • Body mechanics and pressing techniques
  • History of Thai Massage and concept of working the Sen lines (energy lines) in the body
  • Incorporating a meditative approach to your practice
  • Contraindications and Endangerment Sites
  • Anatomy/Physiology knowledge taught during the training.
    Thai Massage Level 2:
    The Level 2 course builds upon Level 1 for students to learn an additional 80+ new techniques in side-lying, supine, prone and sitting positions, along with additional passive yoga-like stretching applications to perform another 90 to 120 minute massage.

  • Perform an additional 90 to 120 minute massage sequence
  • Deepen the understand of Thai energy lines and massage lines
  • Introduction of side lying positions, to cater to client’s with issues lying on their stomach
  • How to tailor and for 60, 90, 120 minute sessions, depending on client’s needs
  • Communication, client consultations, and setting expectations.
    Thai Massage Level 3:
    The Level 3 course begins with an introduction to the concept of assisted stretching and its benefits. Participants learn about the importance of flexibility, the role of assisted stretching in preventing injuries, and how it can complement massage therapy.
    It blends yoga movements, stretching exercises and massage therapy to foster relaxation and overall well-being for the client.

    It introduces 98+ more advanced Thai-style Assisted Stretching techniques that are challenging to achieve through individual exercise or yoga practice and will allow students to perform a new 120 minute massage routine.

  • Assist clients to enhance flexibility, circulation, and range of motion
  • Students are introduced to various stretching techniques. These techniques may include static stretching, dynamic stretching, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation stretching, and more.
  • Teaches students how to perform a 120 minute Thai-style assisted stretching massage . This includes developing a logical sequence of stretches that complement the massage techniques being used.
    Thai Massage Level 4:

    Level 4 brings everything together where students learn to customize massage routines by mixing and matching techniques learned to create therapeutic massage treatment plans catered specifically to the client’s needs.

  • Develop five new 60 minute Thai Massage routines based on the 260+ techniques learnt to treat specific ailments
  • Apply therapeutic relief for common ailments
  • Learn the fundamental concepts of Ayurvedic history, philosophy and healing, and the 18 marma points
  • Introduce use of balms and ointments
  • Develop five wellness sessions, integrating exercise, nutritional guidance, and lifestyle recommendations with Thai massage treatment sessions.

Practicum / Supervised Clinic (60h)
Students will conduct practice massages on models under supervision. Students will be evaluated on their performance and will be given constructive feedback. The hands-on practice will allow students to apply their knowledge and refine their skills based on model feedback.
